July 2006

Dear CSN Community Member:

Make History on the Mall. Sign the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Wall of Hope Now! On September 19-20, in Washington, D.C., the signatures of millions of Americans will be compiled into the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Wall of Hope monument on the National Mall. Comprised of 5,000 individual banners representing communities across the nation, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Wall of Hope will include an estimated three million signatures urging Congress to make cancer a national priority. You’ll want to be a part of this historic event, and for about two minutes of your time, you will be! Click here to “sign.”

Although you are relieved after finishing cancer treatment, the fear of recurrence sits on your shoulder and whispers in your ear like the little devil in a cartoon. Learn about how some of our members cope with this universal side effect of cancer by going to the CSN homepage.

Our Members

July’s Our Members page features suzannchili and coug90’s remarkable stories about how they dealt with their cancer diagnosis and their new take on life.

This page also includes a book review on “Hope in the Face of Cancer” by CSN member MaggieAnn. Last but not least, you will meet TereB. Read her hilarious account of her “funniest experience,” which involved boredom and latex gloves. Take me to “Our Members” page.

Expressions

This month the Expressions page has a beautiful, original poem by angel96 titled “Believe.” It also has a soothing image contributed by phillieg. As usual, we have included celebratory messages and memorial tributes received throughout this month. Visit the Expressions page.

Resources

If you are interested in eating healthier and getting tips on physical activity check out the Resources page to learn about a new and exciting program your American Cancer Society has in store. Also, there is information about an upcoming CSN survey.

In addition, you will find information about ACS books, on-line classes, events, clinical trials, treatment centers, a free cancer treatment decision tool and relevant links handpicked just for you.
